with a GOAT?
in Greatest of All Time, that kind of
GOAT... The guys at our shop like to fish,
that's kind of assumed, right. Two of
'em hit the inshore stuff pretty hard, no
boat dock is safe. Very particular
about what they want to fish, and that's
been good for our inshore assortment of
swimbaits and leadheads. While I've
been more focused on heavier leadheads,
thinking deeper water, the guys wanted
something smaller that can fish 3-4" baits,
weedless. There are quite a few
skirted leadheads out there, but my guys
didn't like the orientation of the eye for
line attachment. Most have the
connecting point towards the top of the
leadhead. That presents a
the lure picks up eel grass and that
negatively effects the bite potential.
So, we searched out smaller weight, weedless
leadheads with a properly designed
connecting point...and we found 'em with

We are stocking two
patterns, two weights, in the GOAT leadhead.
5/16th and 1/2 ounce jigs, weedless, nice

right up front. Call it inshore
perfection, at a reasonable price.

Found a new item from one of our old suppliers,
couldn't help but bring these and a couple other inshore
oriented products into our inventory. Underspin lures have been
very popular, for good reason, they work for our saltwater fish
just like they do for freshwater. We added a couple such
items to our stock, CoolBait's excellent underspin jig heads,
another small leadhead from Gambler... The Duz-It hooks
are an excellent variant to the underspin theme.
Two different weights - 1/4 & 1/8 oz, two
different blade colors - nickel and gold, excellent 7/0 hooks on
both. These are packed two per pack.

1/8 oz rigs in nickle and gold finish. Rigged

Big EZ swimbaits are unique in shape and
feature a couple things we've been wanting
to see as an alternate to the more
traditional West Coast style inshore
plastics. You'll note the nose is more
pointed rather than squared off, that works
better for some jigs - best for the weighted
hooks from Eagle Claw and Gambler's Duz-It
underspins. There's also a recessed
area on the back of the lures, easy to rig
these things weedless. The lures are
enhanced with Gambler's Bite attractant.
Lures come five per bag at a very reasonable
Really some nice chunks of
plastic, meaty baits. They swim nicely, must
be the hips and the narrower waist. But,
they do have a very nice kick in large part
because of the segmented tail. The
lures are 5 inches in length, and are made
to fish on a belly weighted hook or with a
crew in weight. Their erratic swimming
action will arouse a bite, no doubt about
DANG IT, TWO HEADS ARE BETTER THAN ONE!
Got to say I'm having fun with the inshore oriented lures and
heads. Here's another VERY interesting morsel for your
inshore fishing. Yes, these can also be used in
freshwater, but they are very much ready for the salty stuff.
I guess you can guess that I came to saltwater by way of
freshwater bass'n... That was my background, happily fishing
East Texas lakes and creeks until "promoted" back to California
and entering a state of depression over the lack of freshwater
to freely fish.
I didn't mind it as a kid growning up, didn't know better. But, just got spoiled by my
time in Texas. Heck, I was there when Lake Fork opened up,
caught my first 10 pounder at Bob Sandlin lake... Then I got
transferred back to CA, with far fewer freshwater fishing
opportunities. It didn't take me long to discover that I
could apply my bass lures and techniques to the saltwater
environment...and catch dozens of fish in a day instead of only
a couple freshwater ones, and those saltwater fish would fight
longer and bite harder - with sharper teeth! Background...
Okay, back to the present. I saw these lures and had to bring 'em
in. It's a great variation on the underspin theme again.
This time we have two heads, one for the bait, the other for the
spinner! Great idea, and now we have almost a half ounce lure,
and the blade allows for a slower presentation than you'd
normally do with just the leadhead of the same weight. More
reason for a predatory fish to expend the energy to go after the
