New for 2020 – first shown at ICAST in July 2019 and available now. Six models in the HD series. Two body sizes, 300 and 400. The enhancements over the previous generation are mostly designed to make the reels smoother in operation, easier to engage and disengage, and like the previous generation the HD’s offer six corrosion resistant ball bearings (CRBB) plus one roller bearing, custom handle with swept design. The new models are black in color verses the dark blue of the prior models.

The Lexa HD’s take the very popular and well respected Lexa to a new level of refinement and performance, with 25 lbs of drag capable on the 400 and 22 lbs on the 300 you have enough stopping power to deal with white seabass, tarpon, yellowtail, dorado and sailfish (and more). On our 2019 Royal Polaris charter I saw one of the other fishermen using a 400 HD to tame tuna at Guadalupe Island, and that says a lot about the capability of these excellent reels. These compact baitcasters can toss a lure beautifully, and they have enough line capacity and drag to deal with most fish you’ll encounter. Of course with their levelwind design they make life easier for those doing a lot of cast and retrieve style fishing with artificials. All in all, this is a very nice enhancement/refinement on a great reel and a fine value as well given it’s construction. For what it’s worth, I own a Lexa 300, I think I’ve found a good reason to buy a 400.
