Albackore Tackle Pack

Here's a new item that offers some interesting advantages. The Albackore fishing tackle bag has a lot of things going for it. The construction is very heavy duty, everything double stitched, big durable nylon zippers, strong seams... It's a well built product, made for years of service.

This new item draws from two other successful designs, a back pack system like Angler Sports, and a rigid frame 3600 box size soft pack as originally produced by Mark Pack. This synthesis of designs is what makes the Albackore bag such a nice thing to own. It is the best built bag of its type on the market. What are the downsides? The quality comes at a price, it's no light-weight bag. It's use of plywood framing provides strength but adds to the cost compared to a plastic frame. But, the execution is so superb that the weight sacrifice is secondary for most folks. Besides you can just hook the thing on your shoulders, and that effectively drops the load weight in transport.

Oh, I knew I'd forget this, the thing is so well thought out that it even comes with an insulated lunch cooler tray. This is the definitive soft sided bag, designed by folks who fish. Now, if you don't need the cooler and prefer having more tackle storage, that's an option we can work with as well. We have a 5 box version of the Albackore pack that does not include the lunch box.

The Altunative

Albackore has a new smaller tackle storage system, the Altunative! This is a more compact soft sided tackle pack, holding three 3600 size boxes, with terrific side storage pockets and a 5" deep top well that can accommodate some reels or other necessary items. There's even an optional reel storage box available which will hold more reels, in two sizes! This is another wonderful tackle storage product from the Albackore, now well established as one of the best accessory manufacturers in the fishing world!

Pictured is the smaller size reel storage accessory which can be attached to the Altunative or the Backpack style pack pictured above. The small case will hold 6 reels, the larger one 8!

Specialty Bags

Albackore further expanded their line-up of tackle storage solutions to include the new Surf'N Creel, Waist Pack and Micro Bag. These specialty tackle storage products are geared to anglers working smaller waters or for situations when a larger bag is not required. I use the small Micro Bag while on the rail on the larger boats and also while surf fishing locally. It's a handy thing to have on your hip, and attaches to any shoulder strap or waist belt. It can hold a small utility box (Plano) as well as a few packs of hooks, Berkley Gulp or swimbaits. Similarly the Waist Pack and Surf 'N Creel cover your needs if you need a bit more gear. The Waist Pack is your basic fanny pack design, so your arms are free to cast or maintain balance. The front of the pack even has a smaller pocket for easy and quick access to items and can also accommodate a small utility box. The shoulder strap Surf pack has a drink holder, tool holder, and comes with an insulated cooler/creel to keep your catch or refreshments cool. You can take the cooler out and substitute a couple 3600 size boxes if necessary.

The creative minds at Albackore have recently begun expanding their offerings into other solutions to storage problems. In this case, they've come up with a couple new lure wraps. These innovative products feature a nice secure clip/strap system of securing your pouch. When unwrapped the cases offer additional fold out storage compartments. They are flat out the nicest such items I've seen on the market. The quality of construction appears quite rugged. I've no doubt these cases will prove just as durable as their tackle boxes, and that's darn good.
