Titanium Surfstrand 1X7 Leader Wire
Here's a new
product, introduced at ICAST 2010, the first
super elastic, knottable, kink resistant
titanium stranded leader material. Oh, I forgot
to mention, it's also corrosion proof since it's
made from space age titanium.
AFW's Titanium Surfstrand
is a unique leader destined to be much
appreciated by anglers seeking long term
strength and rigging flexibility. Unlike most
titanium wire, it can be crimped successfully,
it's quite limp and can even be tied
effectively. At present it's only available in
three tests, 30#, 50# and 75#, but we're hoping
to see higher tests introduced as time advances
and production increases. If you are making up
wahoo bombs, rigging "toothy critter" bait rigs,
give this stuff a try. You'll be every bit as
impressed as we are. This product is packed in
10 ft. 3.05 meter coils.

Tooth Proof Single
Tooth Proof leader wire lives up
to its name and provides maximum protection against the ferocious
jaws of Barracuda, King Mackerel, Wahoo and other toothy fish.
Made from specially controlled Type 304
stainless steel alloy to be hard, but not
brittle, and to deliver the perfect combination
of flexibility and strength. Tooth
Proof possesses incomparable abrasion resistance and tames the toughest toothy
fish. AFW’s unique pre-straightening process eliminates cast, providing a
straighter leader wire with improved kink
resistance. Special Camouflaged Brown finish
vanishes in deep water. Tournament tested tough, this proven leader wire continues to
put anglers on the winner board! Long range
fishing, most often this wire is used for making
up wahoo bait rigs. Sharkers will use the
heavier wire for their bait rigs, sometimes
cable as well.

Special smoke-black finish hides beneath the water ready to capture
Barracuda, King Mackerel, Wahoo, and other
toothy big game fish. The technologically
advanced titanium alloy delivers dramatic kink resistance and flexibility. No
more haywire twisting - you can tie Titanium
Tooth Proof to bait and line using the
Clinch and Albright knots. AFW’s special blend

resistance and tremendous strength. Long range
fishing, most often this wire is used for making
up wahoo bait rigs.
Titanium Tooth Proof® Titanium
Single Strand Wire
Haywire Twist Tool
Now you can wrap leader wire
into clean, even twists, just like the pros with the Haywire Twist
Tool! Use this tool to rig Tooth Proof #3 through #14 and other single
strand stainless wire diameters .012” (0.30mm) - .033” (0.84mm). Not for use with Titanium Tooth Proof.
Surfstrand Multi Strand
Surfstrand 1x7 is made of
corrosion resistant, spring temper stainless
steel. Surfstrand’s 1x7 construction
offers higher break strength and more realistic action
than similar products from other suppliers. The wire is specially
stranded to deliver superior kink resistance,
and the high strength of stainless
makes this an excellent wire for leaders, lures, and trolling. Camouflaged Brown
finish minimizes reflections and disappears beneath the water. Attach Surfstrand using crimping sleeves and crimping pliers or tie with a Figure 8 Knot.
Long range fishing, most often this wire is used
for making up wahoo bombs.
Surflon Nylon Coated
Multi Strand Wire 1X7 Strand
Surflon 1x7 is a great
all-around leader wire for toothy fi sh. This
wire is our Surfstrand 1x7 stainless
steel with a smooth coating of nylon. A specially selected grade of
nylon, tough yet flexible, is used to seal out
water, reduce visibility, and improve
the life of the line. Compared to our
competitor’s old style 1x3 construction,
Surflon’s 1x7 construction offers higher break strength and more realistic
action. Surflon 1x7 is an effective leader wire
for hard-charging, toothy fish such as Bluefish
and King Mackerel. For guys going to Alaska,
this is often a guide recommended wire product.
Surflon® Standard Grade Coated
49 Strand Cable/Wire
Made from high strength,
corrosion resistant Type 304 stainless steel, 49-Strand 7x7 cable provides
excellent protection against Shark and other big game toothy fish.
This cable provides excellent kink resistance
and bite protection. Oftentimes when
a Shark strikes a bait, they twirl violently.
This motion can kink single strand
leader wire and can actually be more destructive to your tackle than the fierce
bite. 49-Strand resists kinking, wrestles back,
and allows you to hook up and haul in. Available
in Camouflaged Brown.
49 StrandTM Stainless Steel
Stainless Steel Thimbles are
recommended to protect cable from wear on downriggers and shark/big game
rigs. Thimbles fit 49 strand and cable sizes up to 3/32” (2.4 mm) diameter.
Sleeves are made of Copper or
Brass and are available Nickel plated and Black oxidized. Double Barrel Sleeves
are available in standard thick wall in bare Copper and Black finishes. Thin
Wall Double Barrel Sleeves, available in Black finish, are excellent for use
with big game mono leader material. Sleeves can
be fitted to wire, monofilament,
and other various lines. Burr-free nonabrasive
finish combined with high strength and
corrosion resistance makes AFW’s sleeves the
preferred choice of professional leader, lure,
and tackle manufacturers. Use the single well
sleeves for cable/wire.
Double Barrel Sleeves are most
commonly used with mono, but can also work well
for 49 strand cable.
Most commonly, the single well
sleeves are used for crimpling single strand, 7
strand, and 49 strand wire.
Aluminum sleeves are a
bit softer than copper or brass. Some folks
prefer them for rigging up mono. In my
estimation it's purely subjective and personal
choice. More often I'll use the double-well
style, but there are times when aluminum becomes
a first choice. Try 'em both and arrive at your
own conclusion. The sleeves are packed 10-50/box
depending upon size.
AFW introduced a new series of
Stainless Steel Ball Bearing Snap Swivels with
double welded rings this year. These are of very
good quality, packed 2 per box. They feature a
tournament grade snap for ultimate connection
protection and offer a patented bullet shape to
decrease resistance. They have a gunmetal black
Brass swivels are manufactured
to exacting specifications to provide smooth rotation and prevent line
twisting and kinking. Eyes are precisely formed
to prevent pull-out under severe
tension. Offered in Nickel (bulk only) and Black finishes. AFW swivels are quickly becoming
the preferred brand!
Spring temper stainless steel
Split Rings are rigid and strong. You can attach
them quickly to other components using
appropriate split ring pliers. Available in
Stainless Steel finish.
To maintain line
integrity it's a good idea to run a chafing
spring over the mono where it comes in contact
with metal. Chafing springs do just that. They
are available in approximately 3 inch lengths
which may be cut down for a tighter loop if
necessary. Packed 10/box
8/3/18- We've been
asking AFW to bring out stainless steel springs
like we've been supplying for the past several
years when our old supplier went out of
business. Finally, after several years of
prodding they did just that. 10/bag
Over the course of a fishing season there are seemingly always things
that run into short supply. No matter how we try. A couple
years ago I ran into a wall on beads. Told myself it wasn't
going to happen again last season. So, I bought a veritable
plethora of tri-beads. Got some great colors too (wish the
picture showed off the brown and pink better...). If you're
resigned to believing the season's over, or if you're from the
Southern Hemisphere and are just getting set for your season, now is a
very good time to take advantage of our overstock. Buy a few
bags and get rigging.
Beads come in
100 packs / color.
Colors below are in the same order as the picture
our sharkers, AFW supplies a LARGE Rattle Bead
which is often run in-line on cable above a
mackerel as an attractant. It can also be used
inside a lure/squid skirt as further inducement
to draw a strike from a mako. This item has been
hard to find, but we've got a decent supply for
folks making up their own rigs.
