Quick Rig
 We're very excited to introduce
Quick Rig hooks to our clients. They make some high quality hooks
with unique features. The hooks are manufactured in Japan, with
attention to quality in materials and finish. Their ringed circle hooks
are flat out excellent, on a par with Owner hooks in terms of quality.
They're sharp at the point, but have less of a cutting edge to them
along the side. Quick Rig also makes some very trick 180 and 90 degree
offset hook rigs, in a wide range of sizes you'll find on this page. Use these for making up
trolling rigs or instead of a trap rig with the smaller size hooks.
Use the little 3/0 or 4/0 on plastics for some serious catching. We've
also commissioned QuickRig to make up some special items for our long
range anglers (welded rings) and tandem hook rigs for our big game
fishermen.

Brown Chunking Circle
The CB Circle Chunk features the
same excellent heavy duty circle hook as their regular ringed Circles
from Quick Rig, but with one essential difference, a ball bearing
swivel attached to the eye of the hook. This allows the chunk to rotate
more easily, eliminating line twists and the line test degradation
caused by twisted and stressed line under load. It's a unique hook, made
for a particular style of fishing.

This is a great hook, quality,
strength, long lasting finish and a super point. If fish Owner's Super
Mutu, you should also give this hook a tryout. It is arguably stronger
and of the same level of quality. It's also a better value product.
Quick
Rig is a small enough firm to be flexible and innovative and big enough
to produce some excellent products for realistic prices. They have
introduced a couple new items that are specialty-type hooks for specific
applications.
First off the new LARGE Super Charlie
Brown Circles are just what we've been hearing requests for by our
Alaska barn-door halibut guys. These are a big meaty hook, with a ring.
The existing line-up seemed big, until I grabbed one of the huge 24/0
size hooks!

Rig Hays Hook
For the marlin chasers, you've probably become familiar with
the Hays Hook. Quick Rig is now the supplier of this excellent billfish
hook. The stainless steel hook with round ground point offers excellent
penetration and reduced opportunity to cut through and lose your trophy.
These are a premium hook, not inexpensive, but among the finest ever
produced. They are offered 2 per package and available from 7/0-12/0
sizes.
PAKULA HOOKS AND ACCESSORIES
Pakula also
makes some excellent hooks, in cable rigged
tandems (with shackle) and two versions of cold
forged stainless steel single hooks. The singles
are made in two versions, a thin wire and X-Strong
heavies for larger grade marlin and tuna. The
shackles are also sold separately and listed
below. These hooks are a bit different than what
many of us are used to fishing for larger game,
many of us are used to longer shanks. The shorter
shank hook with turned in beak point is shaped to
maximize hook up rates. For many trolled lures,
this will prove an advantage. In Peter Pakula's
experience, the shorter gap will increase your
hook up rate, enough so that you'll be switching
out more of your rigs after using them for any
length of time. For skirted lures they work great,
for replacement hooks for trolling and casting
lures, they are an excellent upgrade. The thin
wire DH series optimize penetration, while the
heavier thick wire DHX series are best for larger
marlin and tuna.

Lip Latch Tandem Hooks (Area Rule) produce some
really excellent hooks for folks targeting the
Big Boys. Their Tournament Grade Lip Latch
tandem hook rigs are great for rigging up your
very best trolling lures. The Lip-Latch tandem
rigs are engineered to provide maximum hook-up
potential per strike. Instead of cable, which
can fray or cause the hook to cock, these are
made from aircraft-grade solid 302 stainless
steel wire to connect the hooks. This linkage
exceeds the strength of the hooks! A stainless
steel butt-ring is welded through the eye of the
lead hook to provide freedom of movement and
ample room for chafing gear. The forged and
tempered Mustad hooks run straight without
cocking are are precession sharpened to a
micro-sharp knife edge point. The entire
assembly is Teflon coated to provide
friction-free penetration and maximum resistance
to rust.
 Lip
Latch rigs are 180 degree opposed. This
configuration provides better balance with a
lure. If you prefer 90 or 360 degrees, simply
twist for the desired angle.
They are
precision sharpened and Teflon coated, so you
have a product that's ready to fish just as
soon as you crimp it on a line. It's a "stiffy"
design. The hooks also come with one
ring-and-grommet for use rigging up your
trolling lure at no additional charge. These
hooks definitely posses hook-up potential. If
you are rigging up your best lure, or hitting
the tournament trail, this tandem rig is the
hook of choice.
The Chain Gang from
Williamson
Going for the kill rather than
catch and release? The Chain Gang / Chain Grabber trolling lure rig
from Williamson will increase
hook-ups by 80%! They use all 316 stainless steel construction.
They're IGFA approved. Their flexibility allows the chain to flow
naturally in the lures skirt, and the hooks turn to meet the strike!
They offer a full 360 degree rotation.
BRAID
Strike Master Shark Leaders
Here are a
few time savers for sharkers. These shark
leaders are made using coated cable in 135 and
250#. Hooks are either Forged or Stainless
Siwash. In the case of these rigs, the forged
cadmium hooks are the stronger and heavier rigs.
Three sizes are available, 6/0 and 8/0 rigged on
135# and the 9/0's are rigged on 250# leader of
8 feet six inches length.

Big Game Tackle offers great gear that's all well tested in the real
world of big game fishing - the world over. Their line-up of
products includes lures, sabiki rigs, and hooks. The hooks offer
some unique features, color, a bait keeper barb, strength, and value.
We're quite impressed with these hooks, and are simply amazed at their
value. Once of our clients even landed a swordfish outside Catalina
Island in the summer of '07 on a Frenzy 7/0 Circle in red.
The Ultimate Circle hooks from
Frenzy are only available in larger sizes, from 5/0 up to 11/0, six
hooks per economical pack.
Gamakatsu
Assist 510 Jigging Lure Stinger Hooks
 Here's
a trick new gizmo that's looking for applications. Gamakatsu
recently came out with a neat stinger hook rig that's going to be
seen on a lot of lures as time rolls along. This new
accessory will change the way anglers fish vertical jigs.
You see, jigs work great so long as fish do what's expected, and
strike the right end of the lure. When they don't you get
bumped, but not hooked. With the Assist 510 you can improve
your odds of setting a hook by running the rig at the head of your
lure. It's designed to hook any fish that strikes the head
of a vertically jigged lure.
The hook
itself is a super short shank with a round wide gap and long
sticky sharp curved point, and a micro barbed reverse barb. The
out-barb prevents the hook from catching on or chaffing the
main-line. The hook is firmly attached to a loop made from
super-strong braded line. The loop and hook shank are
covered with a durable heat shrink tubing that protects the loop
connection from abrasion and saltwater. The loop and shrink
tubing are both done in red for a little extra attraction, like a
blood line on some lures and bait catchers.
To attach,
just run the loop through an eye of the lure and loop it back over
the hook, you're done. No split rings, knots or anything else,
rigging is easy and fast. The hooks range from 1 to 4/0, tin
finished for corrosion resistance. The loop on the 1-3/0
Assist's is 100# test, for the 4/0 it bumps up to 150#. The Assist
runs $4.99, three per pack for all sizes except the 4/0 which has
two per pack.

rigging as well as new steel cable Assist hook rigs that really make
sense for fishing wahoo and toothy critters.
 ProFishCo
offers some excellent hooks for these lures. The Assist
Stinger Hook rigs feature micro-sharp Mustad FORGED and
TEMPERED Chemically Sharpened points. They are dangerously
sharp. They're also some of the best hooks made for this
application. There are two lengths offered, a short (about
an inch) and a mid-length cable (about 2 inches long). The
hooks are well attached to their soft and super strong cable
(they test out from 140# to 180# of pressure before
failure). The hooks will not fall out of their rigging nor
will the loop break-off.
River 2 Sea
is a leading
manufacturer of Knife Jigs, a primary supplier and original manufacturer
(not to be confused by one offshore reel manufacturer who offers some
jigs at a ridiculous price. They use a great quality hook rigged well,
at an affordable price.
The assist hooks are packaged three per pack, except for the double rigs
which come two rigs per pack. Most folks use a split ring and welded
solid ring to attach the rigs to their lures. For the split rings we
suggest Owner's Hyper Wires,
and for the open eye hooks again we recommend the
Owner Stinger open eyes.
