OWNER HOOKS

Owner began the "designer hook" business by coming up with a far superior product that combines all the critical features needed by serious anglers. The hooks I carry are all forged (for better strength, and less chance of breaking off), are corrosion resistant, have a low visibility black chrome finish, Cutting Point design, and are super, super sharp. These hooks last longer than your basic bronze colored hook. I've used some for several seasons, and they still catch and hold onto fish, and are as good looking as the day I got them. That's hard to believe, but very true, as you will find out yourself when you buy a few packs and fish these great hooks.  While they are expensive, they also last.   These are not a one time use hook.  They're laser sharp and ready for immediate use upon opening the pack.

CUTTING POINT™ hooks are the latest in high technology hook design developed by the Owner Hook Company of Japan. Unique to each OWNER CUTTING POINT™ hook is the triple-edged cutting blade led by a needle-sharp point that never needs sharpening. The point grabs quickly, and as it begins to penetrate, the three cutting edges slice their way through the toughest scales, cartilage and even jawbones for a positive, effortless hook set.

Owner’s unique triple-edged CUTTING POINT™ are engineered for better penetration. Conventional hooks are typically stamped to a pyramid point or ground to a pencil-type point, and by their design, encounter more friction and resistance the deeper they penetrate. With the CUTTING POINTS™ triple-edged blade, the amount of resistance actually decreases as the hook penetrates. Prove it to yourself by pulling the CUTTING POINT™ through a matchbook cover. The CUTTING POINT™ grabs and slices quick and clean right through the material!

With a point that cuts and slices so easily, isn't there a concern that the hook might actually cut its way out of cartilage and tissue? On the contrary. Because of a flat inside design, the CUTTING POINT'S™ is actually less likely to cut out than is the conventional round point design. And in response to those who have wondered whether CUTTING POINT'S™ might tear a bigger hole in tissue - thus enabling a jumping or twisting fish to more easily escape - fact is, no hook, CUTTING POINT ™ or otherwise, will create a "hole" that's any larger than the diameter of the hook's shank.

Caution: OWNER CUTTING POINT™ hooks are super sharp out of the package and do not need to be sharpened. Attempts to sharpen after purchase removes the finish and may weaken the tempering process, leading to rapid corrosion and soft points.

MUTU Circle Hooks - Circle hooks are gaining a great deal of popularity in a few different applications. The first area of renewed interest were the guys going for deep water rockfish. The hooks held onto prey far better, less fish came unbuttoned. Then the guys on the long range boats started using these products for tuna, big tuna. Surprisingly, the fish seemed to always hook themselves right in the corner of the jaw. The hooksets were better, fish didn't come unbuttoned. Then the folks who specialize in catch and release got into the act. The benefit for this application lies again in the hookset. Always the fish seems to hook itself right in the corner of the mouth so there's little damage to the fish once released. You don't have to pop the hook to set it. Let the fish run away, then tighten the drag allow the run to set the hook. Try 'em, you'll like 'em.

Circle hooks are a proven commodity at this point, and no one makes better one's than Owner. They have recently come up with another great variant, a lighter weight version of their excellent circle hook. The lighter hooks are just the ticket for flylining lighter, smaller baits. Owner Ringed Hooks

Owner has added more ring hooks to their line with the standard Mutu, Gorilla and Flyliner hooks.  These specialty hooks fill the bill for bait and chunk fishermen.  They feature Owner's superior hook design and durability, just as you'd expect. The picture shows off the four styles of Owner Circle hook now on the market.  From left to right: Super Mutu, Standard Mutu, Gorilla, and Flyliner. New Owner Super Mutu Ringed Hooks

Red SSW
Owner has also provided a red all purpose "J" hook, preferred for a number of specialty situations and fish, such as white seabass. While we brought these hooks into inventory to satisfy the requests by the white seabass guys, lots of folks have discovered their appropriate use for a number of gamefish.  The halibut guys are using them on the front of their trap rigs (snelled to the leader) for very good success.

Another very useful hook design from Owner, one that many of our surf anglers prefer is the small mosquito hook. For guys fishing BassTrix lures and Berkely Gulp lures (especially the worms) in the surf, using a dropshot rig and the small Octopus hooks is the rig of choice. We offer Owner's Mosquito hooks in four sizes in both the black chrome and bleeding red finish. They're a very fine wire with a needle point. Here's a nifty product from Owner.  Want to replace some treble hooks with single siwashes? Here's one way to do things without using a ring.  Owner has an open eye siwash in a black anti-rust finish.  They have a very slight 4 degree offset.
