Penn has a nice line of foul weather gear
and boots. They
make two versions of their Rainwear, both in blue,
and two types of boots.
The least expensive Senator line is effective, and
a very strong value. The Penn Big Water gear is of
a better quality and will prove to be longer
lasting and more suited to folks making use of
this equipment more often.
Penn
Deck Boots
Penn's new deck boots are a very welcome
addition to the CharkBait lineup of products geared for offshore
anglers. They make two series of boots, the DeckPro and their Senator
value line boots. In the past there have only been a couple of decent
saltwater boots available, and we've seen their prices continually
increase. Penn's new boots add some competitive fire to the equation,
and are the best value going in my estimation. The only downside I can
see in the new Penn boots is that they don't offer quite as wide a
selection in size as the Servus, XtraTuf and Izor boots. But, that's the
only downside apparent. If your foot will fit 'em, you'll like 'em.
The
Penn Senator line of boots is available for under $30 which makes 'em a
very affordable option for any angler. There's no now reason to put up
with cold wet feet, drenched by unmerciful deckhands with power hoses.
You'll smile when the guys come running down the rail to clean the decks
after a hot bite (instead of scurrying into the galley looking for a dry
spot for your tootsies). The boots 9 inches high, offer a flat sole
similar to a tennis shoe. This is the best value deckboot on the market
we've seen.

The
step-up DeckPro is a slightly taller boot @ 12 inches, made from better
material and offers a non-marking lug sole with a heel. They can be
rolled down for added comfort and cooler feet. To add to the comfort,
they even come with removable inserts similar to the ones we have listed
at the bottom of this page which is an added extra for other boots. With
the inserts they're a comfy home for your feet during a long day's
fishing. Compare this boot to the XtraTufs which run $60 (or more
elsewhere) and you'll see why we're so impressed with the DeckPro boot
from Penn. They are a big step up from the Izorline Viking boot in our
estimation. Additionally, these are a blue boot, which XtraTuf
discontinued this year. The new Penn DeckPro just might be the best boot
on the market in terms of quality and value.

Penn
also has a nice line of foul weather gear. They
make two versions of their Rainwear, both in blue.
The least expensive Senator line is effective, and
another very strong value. The pants and jacket
will cost you a mere $49. They are easy to store,
and easy to wear when the need arises. For private
boaters, especially those going after lobster at
night, they're a blessing. For the long range
fisherman they are a great bit of security if the
weather turns south and also for those nights we
all like so much...making bait at 1AM. For most of
us, this is all you'll require in terms of foul
weather gear, and you'll be glad you own the set
for sure.
The Senator
Foul Weather Rain Set is cut from a medium weight
PVC material that's ideal for warm weather
fishing. Unlike cheap rainsets, the Penn Senator
features Penn's Neoprene Dry Sleeve Cuff and is
fully reversible for extended life.
The Penn
Senator Rainwear is sold as a set, with both bib
and jacket included in the complete set. Like I
said, it's a real value.

Penn's
Big Water Bibs and Parkas feature a stronger
and warmer construction than the Senator
Rainwear above. These suits are constructed from
a heavy duty cotton backed PVC. The suits are
"cut" generously, meaning they run a tad big.
Like the Senator Rainwear, they're reversable
for longer service life. They are a
commercial-grade foul weather suit, made for
long life in tough conditions.

Izorline Viking Deck Boots
The folks at Izorline sure know what
fishermen need....
These Deck Boots will make your
feet happy should
travel aboard a boat - long range or local, private or commercial. Keep your feet
dry and comfortable all day long! These boots wear very well, and do just what they
are intended to accomplish: keep you from slipping around on deck and keep those tootsies
dry. We all know that deckhands love washing down feet as much as decks, well even
more. Now put the joke on them!
Features: handmade, natural rubber compound rubber
upper, oil resistant non-slip sole, orthopedic insole with steel shank for full support,
durable easy drying polyester lining, tops can be rolled down for the "shorty"
look, generous ankle and shaft for ease of donning and removal.

Xtra
Tuf Boots
Extra Tuf boots
(brown in the picture) is the choice of many long rangers. They
run about a half size large, accommodating insole inserts which we
sell. With the insert, comfort is on a high plane. Both
Izor's and EXtra Tuf produce a good working boot. They're both excellent products, and will last a long, long
time. For our clients with wet climates, you'll get a double
dose of use from these finely crafted products.
