We process orders manually, preferring to have a human actually check things over and contact you should there be questions. Within 24 hours of placing your order you will receive a follow-up email confirmation and final invoice reflecting your total charges (Monday-Friday). You are not billed until we actually send you your final invoice.  Orders shipped to CA addresses will have California Sales Taxes applied, out of state orders are tax free. Orders over $100 are shipped FREE!* Standard size/weight orders less than $100 are billed $8.50 for shipping. During the ordering process you can select expedited shipping if required. (Within the USA we ship via UPS ground. International, and oversize/weight items will be billed for shipping and you will be sent an emailed invoice reflecting total charges prior to actual billing. Go Fly a Kite

More fish? Bigger fish? A kite opens up some opportunities for anglers. Having more lines in the water can be a good thing, covering more water and getting lines out away from the boat, more realistic presentation, these are the factors that motivate a fisherman to consider use of a kite. For boaters who have not run a kite, they're pretty simple devices. You fly the kite from a stout rod and reel. Short length rod, and low gear ratio reel (now you can use your heavy duty electric reels or big rockcod reels you put away after the closures...). Use a Goldfinger or Outrigger Roller release clip attached to the kite line. You'll pay out line from your Kite reel and another angler should pay out line from your fishing rod/reel, keeping the bait splashing on the surface as your line/bait/kit move out from the boat. Once you've let out line sufficiently for your taste (expected fish range) the guy handling the kite can go back to fish'n and the kite angler's job is to maintain the proper position of the bait, on the surface splashing away and getting noticed. Often anglers using this method will use a fairly heavy rig, with Spectra and about 25-50 meters of mono, at most. This helps with hookset, since you'll really want to drive in your hook once contact is made. Stretch is a disadvantage. Once bit, quickly reel down to the fish. The line will come off the clip and with the direct feel / no stretch quality of spectra, tightening down will likely set your hook - but you've got to move quickly and crank fast.

AFTCO Kite

The fishing kite is an accessory more and more folks are using, whether fishing Long Range of from a private boat. Even shore fishermen can make good use of this technique. New Daiwa Kite Reel

Daiwa's Dendoh Tunacom Bull 1000 (TB 1000) is something warranting excitement from folks targeting DEEP water fish or fishing off a kite (see item 10). In the old days there were a limited number of add-on power winders on the market for commercial application that fit a specific reel. These were bulky and expensive. Daiwa designed the Dendoh power-assisted reels from the ground up to provide deep water anglers an alternative. The Tunacom Bull was designed for deep saltwater application, and also for use as a kite reel. It's large enough to hold the appropriate amount of line for it's intended application, and robust enough to provide many, many years of exceptional service. It's also relatively compact for it's application, much more so than the add-on alternative. The reel can be used by crank (robust levelwind design), by direct power with the supplied 9' 12 volt DC cable, or with the addition of optional battery packs.
