The
new Sushi Spoon!
For 2006, knife jigs really caught on. SPRO caught the
same wave, but they're taking it in a different direction.
The SPRO Abalone Sushi Spoons are the most beautiful lures
in the world! Wrapped in real abalone shell, nothing
refracts light better in the water. These are real
abalone, not some plastic imitation. As a result they
carry a bit higher cost, but then again, they're the
nicest such lures on the market. You will be amazed
at the increase in fish you hook and land with the SPRO
Abalone Sushi Spoon. To get the most from these lures, rig
them with a split ring on the front and a welded ring.
Attach your line and "assist" hooks to the welded ring.
Use the lures vertically, jigged mid depth or off the
bottom. The lures are five inches in length and weigh 3
ounces.
SPRO
POPPER 50
These
are the nicest poppers of their type on the market in my
opinion. Their finish is terrific, with a nice
cupped mouth for extra gurgling sound and action.
Their reflective bodies will gather light and bounce it
back to the hungry fish below. The use of a small
feather on the tail treble hook adds an extra bit of
enticement. The lures are well rigged with superior
quality hooks that will withstand the tough marine
environment. This 5" long popper weighs in at 2 ounces,
for great casting performance, and it even has built-in
rattles for added sonic attraction. They feature
heavy through wire construction and a realistic
holographic finish.
SPRO DD
MINNOW 65
The
DD Minnow 65 is 6.5" long 1 1/2 ounces of fish catching
perfection in a deep diving lure. They will dive
20-25 feet. They utilize a weight transfer system
and inner rattle chambers for added fish catching quality.
With heavy wire through construction, this lure is great
for saltwater use. The DD will lend itself well to
Baja use inside the Sea of Cortez. The lure's deep
diving lip is molded through the lure for added strength
and true tracking. They run straight right out of
the box, and they won't get "tweaked" after a few decent
fish have slammed 'em. Their 2X strong Gamakatsu
black nickel treble hooks are very sharp and they'll deal
with the corrosive saltwater environment just fine.
These lures can be cast and retrieved to great effect, as
well they cast they'll also troll very well.
SPRO SWIMMING JIGS
These
are about the prettiest lures I've seen. But, will
they catch fish? Reports from anglers over the past
couple years has been quite positive. They work well on the
slide, as a cast and retrieve lure or for jigging. The
lure is available in several sizes, 7 oz to 1oz.
There are several excellent patterns, mackerel,
sardine, a dark brown bait (blue back) and
green. All are deliciously colored, reflective,
and look juicy enough to eat. The jig is rigged with a
high quality hook for better hooksets.
Interestingly,
the lure has a unique curve through it's midsection.
So, when you let it drop it will flutter like a wounded
bait. Then give it a jerk or two, drop it, jerk it...
until you get bit. I thought this lure would do well when I
first saw it at a dealer show. Now, after a few years
of use we can very definitely suggest they're very good
performing lures. Whether fishing inshore of way
offshore, there's a Swimming Jig that's perfect for your
fishing applications.
Spro can not produce these lures within the
previous pricing structure (Fall 2007). If they were to
maintain the lure in the line the price would have to bump
up considerably. As a result Spro's Swimming Jigs are being
discontinued. We have a fair inventory at present, but it's
finite. They are a wonderful lure to fish, get 'em while
they are available.

Inshore
Hard Bodied Lures
SPRO VIV-CRANK 40
Out
of the package this rattling bait runs true and catches
fish. The lure weighs in at 1 3/8 ounce and is four
inches in length. With the intense internal rattles
and tight vibrating action the lure calls fish from
distances. Great shape, excellent realistic colors,
perfect action and sticky sharp Gamakatsu hooks!
SPRO DDFAT-CRANK 30
This
deep diving plug offers a unique action and big fat
profile for hungry fish. With the large squared off
and reinforced lip the lure dives DEEP. The lure is
3 inches in length, with bill five inches! It weighs
in at one ounce and will dive 15-20 feet! The lure also
features internal chambers and rattles, with a weight
transfer system for longer casts. With the long bill
the lure can actually bounce over snags! Use it over
submerged lumps and structure, drop-offs, where the big
fish hang!!!
SPRO ARUKO-SHAD 75
The
Aurko Shad is part of the Roland Martin Signature series
of baits from SPRO. It does things no other lipless
crank bait can accomplish. It's unique engineering
makes the lure dive nose first towards the bottom.
Then it will scrounge on the bottom looking like a bait
fish searching a meal. You can walk the lure along
the bottom, and it will reduce snags given the nose-first
attitude. This lure weighs about 3/4 of an ounce and
is three inches in length. The finish is
spectacular!
SPRO CHUG-MINNOW 45
This
topwater producer weighs 3/4 ounce and is 4 1/2 inches in
length. Its concave mouth pops water forward like a
fleeing baitfish while it spits water out the side of its
gills. It does all this while scooting from side to side.
Plus, the Chug Minnow 45 comes equipped with 2X strong,
super sharp Gamakatsu trebles. It's a bait that fish can't
live without.
One of the great
features of the Chug Minnow 45 is that it's easy
to fish. It's ready to fish out of the package.
No need to tune it or change the hooks. Simply
cast it by structure or where fish are feeding.
Give the rod a pop and let the lure do the work
for you. The Chug Minnow 45 is effective on both
saltwater and big freshwater game fish.
SPRO DOWN-MINNOW 30
SPRO
lures have earned a deserved reputation for making high
quality baits at reasonable prices, lures that catch fish.
The Down Minnow 30 is a terrific inshore lure. When
the fish won't come up to your lure the Down Minnow will
travel down to them! It is perfectly weighted to
sink at a steady pace to get down to the fish's level,
predictably.
The lure is 3 inches
in length and weighs 1/2 ounce. It will sink at a
steady pace of about one foot per second. There are
inner rattle chambers and features terrific colors, super
sharp treble hooks and durability. It's another
tournament tested crankbait. Use this lure when the
fish are suspending at mid depth water. Cast the
lure out and allow it to sink to the approximate depth of
the fish, then begin reeling or twitching. It's a
great tool to use for when the fish are scattered along a
drop-off or suspended over a ledge. Use it over eel
grass, or along dock pilings.
SPRO
MUDKICKER BUCKTAIL
The
new Mudkicker Bucktails are a terrific new lure designed
for inshore fishermen, and fish of course. They
feature a broad under body for added mass and more
effective casting. You fish them on the bottom,
adding some action to the lure as you slowly drag it
across the bottom. There are three sizes and three
patters offered. All will get bit and provide
some wonderful fishing opportunities in areas you might
not generally fish. When the fish are feeding on the
bottom, inshore or at the surfline, these things will get
noticed well!
SPRO PRIME BABY BUCKTAIL
The
Prime Baby Bucktail lures from SPRO are designed for use
in the surfline or inside the bays for bass or other
species of gamefish. They are made to be fished on
light lines, from 4-8# tackle. They're packed two
per card, feature Gamakatsu hooks in a black nickel
finish. They're beautifully finished and built to
last a long, long time. Typically, for inshore use
lots of guys will fish small plastics, little grubs.
A hair jig will last longer, through more fish, and put
the fisherman more in charge of the action. They
take a little more skill to fish than a plastic, but
they'll also draw more strikes if you learn to work 'em
right.
