Here's
a great line of jigs for deep water fishermen. ProFishCo. makes some great
stuff, like the fast running Area Rule marlin lures, Bugs,
Fliers, rigging gear... They've introduced a much
desired new product, Power Jigs. You might have seen a
somewhat similar product from a major (nameless) Japanese
reel manufacturer, for $20-30! We've been offering some
similar jigs from River 2 Sea for a whole lot less
(Knife Jigs and Sea Rock Jigs).
The new jigs from ProFishCo. offer a wonderful finish, and
similar deepwater advantages as the other offerings. But,
they also have a couple innovations and changes in design
that make them very desirable. They are tail heavy, a
moderately slim iron, with a flatter surface for
greater flutter. They'll drop fast, attaining good depth
quickly. You can also introduce a slight bend in the jig to
enhance this fluttering, too. They feature both split and
solid rings, pre-installed at the factory. So, rigging up
and fishing is darn easy.
These
gorgeous lures are available in three sizes, 100, 150 and
200 gram (3, 5, and 7 ounce) and four flavors. Two great
mackerel patterns, a pink and white and a red-head, are all
the colors offered, and probably all the colors you'll ever
need for a wide range of gamefish and conditions. They all
feature a nice prolonged-acting, luminous belly (or body on
the red-head). The multi-layer finish, durable painting,
holographic scale effect... it all adds up to an immensely
eatable morsel for most predatory fish.
ProFishCo
offers some excellent hooks for these lures. The Assist
Stinger Hook rigs feature micro-sharp Mustad FORGED and
TEMPERED Chemically Sharpened points. They are dangerously
sharp. They're also some of the best hooks made for this
application. There are two lengths offered, a short (about
an inch) and a mid-length cable (about 2 inches long). The
hooks are well attached to their soft and super strong cable
(they test out from 140# to 180# of pressure before
failure). The hooks will not fall out of their rigging nor
will the loop break-off.
We're often asked,
"Which color works best?" In this case, I think I can answer
all of 'em. They all have their place. Personally, I'd be
most inclined to fish the pink and the red-head if I were
heading to deeper water, say 300 feet or deeper. For
yellowtail jigging, deep or shallow, I've always been a fan
of blues and greens. So, the mack patterns attract me for
kelp paddy fishing, shallower structure fishing and open
water jigging.
New Lower
Pricing!!! With
increased production comes lower costs. ProFish Co.'s
success with these new lures has resulted in better
economies of scale. Prices have dropped by $5-8 on these
very effective lures. ENJOY! Also, at ICAST '06 the
manufacturer announced several new sizes which we'll see in
upcoming months. There will be both heavier and lighter jigs
offered by January '07.
